Sometimes, the dismissal of a few employees leads to noticeable problems.
On a global scale, it may seem that nothing has changed: the structure, clients, and products remain the same. But the established connections begin to break down. If processes previously existed only in the understanding of a few individuals, the company starts to underperform.
When describing the company’s operations to new employees, managers often draw an organizational chart. However, it doesn’t answer critical questions: How does the company create value for its clients? How do departments interact? Where does one person’s responsibility end and another’s begin?
The goal of creating a picture that can be quickly and equally understood by managers, newcomers, and IT specialists led to the development of Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Today, it is considered the most convenient and modern method for visualizing business processes.
The strength of BPMN lies in its system of strict rules that help build process models clearly understood by every team member. This training will show you how to apply these rules in practice.
Having experience in business process modeling and knowledge of process notations is not required to participate in the course. However, participants without any process experience may face challenges in absorbing the material due to its large volume and the high intensity of the course.
An important component of the learning process is independent work on real-life business processes selected by the participants. By the end of the course, participants will gain knowledge and practical experience in modeling end-to-end business processes in BPMN notation, process analysis using BPMN, and developing process applications based on BPMN.
In the corporate format, we recommend dedicating the second day of the course to independent work on the selected business process for modeling.
Participants should bring their laptops with Bizagi Modeler (or any other software, that supports BPMN 2.0) software installed for modeling and analyzing business processes (required for the second day of the course).
How to Describe Each Step
The key feature of BPMN notation is that each step is described based on the transfer of responsibility to another department or individual once an employee completes their part of the work. We’ll explain how to correctly and accurately describe these responsibilities to make the process seamless.
How to Find the Right Modeling Style
We’ll go over the rules of the notation and teach you how to follow them. We’ll explain why simply adhering to the rules is not enough for a process model to be easily readable. We’ll discuss what constitutes a good modeling style and how to make diagrams clear, easy to read, and structured for any employee or external specialist.
How to Apply Everything in Practice
During the course, each participant will build real process models for their company. The practical part will consist of several iterations, with each followed by a detailed review of modeling techniques, common mistakes, and recommendations for improving model readability. We’ll show how proper process modeling can help identify and eliminate errors in processes.
